Noted actor Prakash Raj on Tuesday claimed that his name has been deleted from the electoral rolls in Bengaluru during the ongoing SIR process.In a video post he shared on his ‘X’ account, the actor said claimed that he was one of the 65 lakh voters whose voting rights have been deleted after the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls.Fraand 😂😂 you may chose n deny voting rights of few citizens who may not elect you back to thrown.. but can you stop us from eventually bringing you down from your thrown #justasking pic.twitter.com/S8BpM3CNy0— Prakash Raj (@prakashraaj) August 11, 2026However, the Bengaluru Central City Corporation clarified that the actor’s name is actively registered at Serial Number 970, Part Number 1 of the 163 Shanthinagar Assembly Constituency as of June 16, 2026 (the date on which the electoral roll data was frozen for SIR activities).”…..I want to share a joke with you. I lived in this constituency, I had my schooling, college, theatre here and for your kind information, I was an MP candidate of this constituency,” the National award winning multi-lingual actor said.Raj said he will see what would be the process to get back his voter ID.”Well, the joke is nice. Kya kya kagaz dikhana padega (what all papers will I have to show) to get back my voter ID,” the actor said.Taking a dig at the ruling dispensation at the Centre, Raj further said, “Well, game on. But one little word, my friend: you may use your powers to deny few of the citizens the right to vote who may not elect you. But can you stop us….from bringing you down? Just asking. Bye.” In a statement, the Bengaluru Central City Corporation said that during the house-to-house verification conducted by the Booth Level Officer (BLO) of the concerned part, it was found that Raj had permanently shifted from the registered address at No 266, Garden Apartment.”The BLO conducted an official inquiry with the neighbours and the property manager. It was also confirmed by the owner of the flat through mobile call that actor Prakash Raj is not residing in the said flat from past four years and presently other tenants are residing.Based on their statements, a mahazar (spot inspection report) was drawn, and the voter status was officially marked as Shifted,” it said.The civic body said that the action was executed strictly adhering to the due process of law and the statutory guidelines laid down by the Election Commission of India.Furthermore, the property manager reaffirmed this fact via a telephone call on August 11, 2026 at 5:30 PM, it said.”In light of the above verifiable facts, I have spoken to actor Mr Prakash Raj, over telephone and he confirms he is not residing at the above said address but residing in Shantinagar Assembly Constituency in a different address, later through BLO Form-6 may be processed in the present residing address. it is hereby informed that the allegations made by Mr. Prakash Raj are verified and found not true,” Jagadish G, Additional District Election Officer (Central) and Commissioner Bengaluru Central City Corporation stated.On July 10, a city court had granted conditional bail to the actor in a criminal case arising from a private complaint alleging he illegally possessed four voter identity cards registered at different locations.A non-bailable warrant (NBW) had been issued against him in connection with the case.
