A CORONATION Street star is returning to the soap in a surprise comeback more than 15 years after appearing in a powerful LGBT storyline – but there’s a twist.
The actor has returned to filming on the soap more than fifteen years since his last appearance – but this time as a brand new character who is set to break hearts in Weatherfield.

The star is best known for his role as the church pastor who had a recurring role on the soap for a year between 2010-2011 and featured heavily throughout Sophie Webster’s ‘coming out’ storyline.
Now, Chris Grahamson is joining the soap as a mysterious new character Fraser.

He is the driver of newcomer Celeste (played by acting legend Frances Barber) who arrives in Weatherfield looking for her niece Bernie Winter (Jane Hazelgrove).
Following his arrival, Fraser soon hits it off with barmaid Glenda (Jodie Prenger) although undertaker Todd Grimshaw is also smitten by the newcomer and is delighted when he hears that he is also gay.

During his first stint on the soap, Chris’s character became a favourite with viewers although his views soon became controversial after he branded teenage lovers Sophie Webster and Sian Powers’ same sex relationship ‘sinful’.
Chris’ character later went on to accept their relationship following their powerful and impassioned speech and invited them back into the church choir.
He also played a huge part in saving Sophie’s life after she drunkenly fell from the church roof.
Aside from soapland, actor Chris has also starred in 2018’s Mary Queen of Scots, Billy Elliot: The Musical Live in 2014 and 2021’s Modern Love.
Elsewhere on the cobbles, budding actress Anya Dewin has joined the cast of the ITV soap as newcomer, Lucy Parkinson.
The young star has been thrown in at the deep end by making her debut as part of the programme’s suprise new murder plot.

Lucy is the daughter of Tim’s cousin Richie who is accused of killing his wife – just a week on from making his Weatherfield debut.
The death of his wife and his subsequent arrest leaves Lucy vulnerable and she is taken in by Tim and Sally.
In upcoming scenes, fans will see Lucy at the centre of the drama.
Richie is arrested for killing his wife after turning up at Tim’s house in a blood-spattered top – having just confessed to various marital problems.
He tells the police that he killed her in self-defence – something which is bound to raise eyerbrows.
As such, the police decide they need to place Lucy into the care system.
But Tim reveals he will take her in – without consulting Sally.
Fan favourite Faye Brooks who played Kate Connor has also hinted at a shock return to the soap – 7 years after being in the show’s steamiest affair ever.
In late 2017, Kate found love with her friend Rana Nazir, who was married to Kate’s colleague Zeedan.
The pair attempted to fight their feelings but eventually fell in love and Rana confessed everything to Zeedan.
Faye previously teased that she could reprise her role as Kate Connor in Coronation Street at some point in the future.
