AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the E20 fuel issue, urging him to reduce the price of the ethanol-blended petrol and provide consumers with the option for non-blended petrol. In his letter, Kejriwal demanded that people should have the option to choose between pure petrol and E20 petrol (containing up to 20 per cent ethanol) at every fuel station. He also demanded that the price of E20 fuel should be reduced, adding its use was leading to lower mileage in vehicles. The former Delhi CM, in a video message, also appealed to the public to visit his or the party’s social media handles, where they can sign an online petition addressed to the PM and share their experiences with E20 petrol.Kejriwal said that he had sought an appointment with the PM to personally submit the petition along with people’s testimonies.Announcing a nationwide petition, Kejriwal said, “We have launched a petition — a letter from citizens to the Prime Minister — across the country … People can share their experiences in the petition like which vehicle they own, how much mileage it used to give earlier, how much it gives now, what problems have developed in their vehicle and which components have been damaged.“People are free to write whatever they wish to share. Whenever the PM calls me for a meeting, I will take printouts of all the petitions and submit them to him. I appeal to everyone to sign this petition in the largest possible numbers so that the voice of the people reaches the Prime Minister,” he said.
