The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will formally launch its election campaign from Ludhiana on Saturday, with Chief Minister (CM) Bhagwant Mann releasing the election pamphlet “Mann Sarkar de Munafe” at the indoor stadium in the presence of several Cabinet ministers, MLAs, party supporters and leaders.Once the formal election campaign begins, the party will launch its door-to-door campaign on September 20.During the mega campaign, 2.68 lakh AAP booth committee members will go door-to-door to inform the public about the Mann government’s work and achievements. The party is also likely to launch its membership drive during this period.A party leader said the door-to-door campaign, which will begin on September 20, would take the AAP government’s work to every household. Lakhs of AAP workers will participate in the campaign, which will continue for about a month.CM’s wife honours ‘sakhis’Dr Gurpreet Kaur, wife of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, was in Ludhiana on Friday to participate in a programme to honour ‘sakhis’ under the Mawan Dhiyan Yojna. The programme was held at a resort on the Jalandhar bypass in the area represented by AAP MLA Madan Lal Bagga.In her address to women, Dr Gurpreet Kaur said that, seeing the enthusiasm among women, it seemed, “Sadi sarkar taan bibiyan ne hi bana deni hai” (The women will bring AAP to power in 2027).She said the promises made by the AAP government had been fulfilled and expressed hope that the party would continue to serve the people of Punjab.She concluded her address with the slogans “Nari Shakti Zindabad”, “AAP Sarkar Zindabad” and “Inquilab Zindabad”.
