AAP leader Manish Sisodia on Tuesday wrote a letter to Delhi High Court Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma, saying that he will also not pursue his matter in the excise case in her court. This comes a day after party chief Arvind Kejriwal similarly decided to neither appear in person or appoint any lawyer for his case in Justice Sharma’s court. In his letter, Sisodia asserted that he has lost faith in receiving justice under the current circumstances. “I do not expect justice,” he wrote, indicating a deep sense of distrust in the proceedings.Taking a sharp dig at the legal system, Sisodia further remarked that “the future of your children is in the hands of Tushar Mehta,” a statement that is likely to trigger strong political and legal reactions. He also declared that he would not appoint any legal counsel to represent him in court.Emphasising his course of action, Sisodia said that “there is no option left except Satyagraha,” invoking the Gandhian principle of non-violent resistance. On Monday, AAP national convener and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal wrote to Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma of the Delhi High Court, stating his inability “in conscience” to participate in further proceedings in the excise case.In a detailed letter addressed to the judge, Kejriwal said his decision was not rooted in anger or disrespect but in “pain, with humility, and with an abiding faith in the role of judiciary.”The development comes days after the high court, on April 20, dismissed Kejriwal’s plea seeking recusal of Justice Sharma from hearing the matter.
