ASTON VILLA have opened talks with West Ham over a potential move for Aaron Wan-Bissaka as Unai Emery looks to strengthen his right-back options this summer.
The former Manchester United defender is on Villa’s shortlist as they search for competition for Matty Cash, with the position identified as a key area to address ahead of the new season.

According to the Athletic, Villa had explored a deal for Emerson Royal, the Flamengo right-back who previously played for Tottenham but that move failed to materialise.
The Midlands club are also facing uncertainty over Kosta Nedeljkovic, with Scottish giants Rangers and other clubs monitoring the youngster’s situation.

Wan-Bissaka, 28, could now become available after West Ham’s shock relegation to the Championship, with the Hammers open to offers for the defender despite him having a contract at the London Stadium until 2031.
The East London club are believed to value the DR Congo international at around £25million after he joined from Manchester United in a £15m deal in August 2024.

The right-back endured a difficult campaign as West Ham dropped out of the Premier League for the first time since the 2011-12 season.
Wan-Bissaka made 25 league appearances last term but lost his place towards the end of the season, starting just two of the club’s final seven matches after Kyle Walker-Peters emerged as the preferred option.
The former Southampton defender also filled in at right-back during Wan-Bissaka’s absence while he represented DR Congo at the Africa Cup of Nations.
Despite West Ham’s struggles, Wan-Bissaka remains highly regarded after making 190 appearances during his five-year spell at Manchester United, where he won both the League Cup and FA Cup.

He also impressed on the international stage at this summer’s World Cup, starting all four of DR Congo’s matches, including their dramatic last-32 clash against England.
The defender helped his country hold Portugal to a 1-1 draw before they pushed England all the way, leading until the 75th minute before Harry Kane’s late double turned the tie around.
Wan-Bissaka has made 65 appearances for West Ham across two seasons and could now be handed a route back to Premier League football, with Aston Villa weighing up a move.
