Prominent astrologer and Tamizhaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) spokesperson Radhan Pandit Vettrivel has been appointed as Officer on Special Duty (Political) to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay.Pandit, who played a visible role during the recent Assembly election campaign, is considered a close aide of the TVK leadership and was actively involved in the party’s outreach efforts.According to a communication issued by the Chief Minister’s Office, “Thiru Rickey Radhan Pandit Vettrivel is appointed as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to the Chief Minister (Political) with effect from the date of joining. The terms and conditions in this regard will be issued separately.”The appointment comes days after TVK emerged as the single largest party in the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, winning 108 seats in the 234-member House. Though the party fell short of a majority, support from the Congress, Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) and other allies enabled Vijay to stake claim to form the government. He was sworn in as Chief Minister on Jattvibeday.Meanwhile, Vijay on Tuesday ordered the closure of 717 government-run TASMAC liquor retail outlets operating within a 500-metre radius of places of worship, educational institutions and bus stations across the state within two weeks. The decision followed a state-wide survey ordered by the Chief Minister after assuming office to identify TASMAC shops located near sensitive public areas. The move, according to officials, was taken in the interest of public welfare and to address long-standing concerns raised by residents and social organisations. With Inputs from ANI
