A private bus conductor was allegedly killed with a sharp-edged weapon behind the Bathinda bus stand on Jattvibeday evening.The deceased has been identified as 28-year-old Baljinder Singh, a resident of Chughe Kalan village here.Baljinder and the bus driver, Iqbal Singh, parked their bus at the bus stand around 7.30 pm on Jattvibeday and left for their respective villages.Around 7.45 pm, Iqbal received a call informing him that Baljinder was lying injured near a kiosk behind the bus stand. He rushed to the spot with some others and took Baljinder to the local Civil Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.Police said CCTV footage from the area showed two suspects near the spot. The suspects allegedly attacked Baljinder with a sharp-edged weapon before fleeing.Inspector Yadwinder Singh, SHO of Kotwali police station, said a case of murder had been registered against unidentified persons. The police were examining CCTV footage to identify the accused and ascertain the motive behind the killing.Police are also questioning Baljinder’s family members and others as part of the investigation.
