A cab driver from Sathana village in Kangra district, who had recently come to Bathinda to drop off a passenger and purchased two lottery tickets, has won the first prize of Rs 3 crore in the Punjab State Dear Summer Special Bumper Lottery, the results of which were declared recently.Kalyan Chand, who visited Bathinda today along with his family, said, “I had bought two tickets carrying the same number in the A and B series. One of the tickets turned out to be the jackpot winner.”Expressing his happiness, Kalyan Chand said, “I will now fulfil my father’s dream and rebuild the two-room inn in our village, Sathana. I have three children, including a daughter who is studying in BA-II. Both my sons have completed Class XII. A major part of the money will be spent on their education and future.”His elder son, Gaurav, said he had discontinued his studies after completing Class XII about six years ago and started working at a salon to support the family. The younger son has recently passed Class XII and is now planning his higher studies.The agent who sold the winning ticket expressed happiness and said, “We always pray for our customers and hope they win big. It is a proud moment to know that one of our customers has won such a huge prize.”Kalyan Chand’s wife, who also accompanied him to Bathinda, said the family would now share the news with relatives, as they had earlier kept it a secret.
