THE BBC has been forced to get strict at its self-service canteen — due to traitorous staff pinching snacks.

A spate of thefts from the Beeb’s HQ has embarrassed bosses and prompted the crackdown.

The “honesty” tills are meant to allow workers to pay for their own purchases.

However, some high-paid workers have been caught stealing “red-handed” — but have faced no consequences.

One worker at Broadcasting House in London said the “stealing spree” was some staff hitting back over cost and job cuts being made by the Beeb.

They said: “Many workers openly brag about ‘forgetting’ to scan items.

“It’s treated as a joke, and a way of ‘getting back’ at the corporation.”

It has led to some self-service “Systopia” machines being shut — and some snacks kept out of reach behind manned tills to stop staff “helping themselves”.

A BBC spokesman told The Jattvibe: “After starting a new contract, we’ve made changes to the set-up of the staff canteen at Broadcasting House.”
