A TV chef has announced plans to shutter his popular restaurant following an issue with the seating area.
The former MasterChef contestant confirmed he will wrap up the eatery in late 2027.

Matt Healy, who was a runner-up on the BBC show in 2016, released a statement confirming Forde Restaurant’s plans to relocate out of The Moors Shopping Centre in Ilkley, Bradford.
The celebrity chef blamed a dispute over a seating atrium as the main reason for the move.

Forde Restaurant said it plans to activate a break clause in its lease and leave the shopping centre, which is owned by Bradford Council.
It comes after the establishment was told to remove alterations made to an atrium area beside the restaurant.

In a statement posted on Facebook, the business explained that the seating area was a vital part of its plans when taking on the lease.
According to Forde, the lease granted permission to use the atrium as a seating area, with the business even seeking approval from the landlord’s representatives to make accessibility improvements.

This included the installation of a solid platform over the existing cobblestones, as well as ramp access, planters, and lighting.
Fordde said representatives of the landlord had initially indicated the proposed changes “wouldn’t be a problem”.
However, the business said Bradford Council has since insisted the seating area be removed after receiving a complaint.
The statement from Forde said: “This seating area was an important part of our business plan before signing the lease and it is essential not just to survive, but try and thrive in this difficult industry.”
“With the state of hospitality right now and Bradford council now making it even harder, we just can’t make this particular property work long term whilst Bradford Council are the landlord.”
Forde revealed that it expects to remain in operation at the site until late next year.
The restaurant, which opened its doors in 2024, was previously described as “a jewel in Ilkley’s gastronomic crown” and has received rave reviews during its time in operation.
