A DRAMATIC blaze erupted at a major airport today, sending thick black smoke billowing into the sky as firefighters raced to the scene.
The fire is understood to have broken out beneath a jet bridge connecting an aircraft to Heathrow Airport.

A fire broke out at Heathrow airport today
A Singapore Airlines plane was parked at the stand at the time – raising fears the aircraft may have caught alight.
Emergency crews swarmed the area and quickly battled the flames, which sent huge plumes of smoke pouring across the tarmac and close to the terminal building.
Firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control within a short time.
A Heathrow Airport spokesperson confirmed there were no injuries.
They also said no passengers were on board the Singapore Airlines plane when the fire broke out.
No workers were present in the immediate area at the time of the incident.
A Heathrow spokesperson said: “Earlier this afternoon, emergency services responded to a small fire beneath an air bridge in Terminal 2.
“The fire was quickly extinguished and there were no reported injuries. The airport continues to operate as normal.”
