The Frenchman, 23, is currently storming down the right flank in North America on the back of three World Cup wins, having made two appearances in the groups.

City have reportedly gauged the response from the Lyon academy product who has agreed to a move to the North West this summer.

While this is a major development in the move, City now need to convince Chelsea to part ways with Gusto.

The Cityzens, according to Fabrizio Romano, have put a £75million price tag on the France international.

Many more discussions will need to be held over the coming weeks especially given Gusto’s contract is set to run until 2030.

But Gusto has found himself fighting with Reece James for a place in the team, so it may be that there is more leeway than expected.

Having won the Club World Cup with Chelsea in 2025, Gusto made 49 appearances across the following season.

Maresca, 46, coached Gusto at Stamford Bridge between July 2024 and January 2025.

While the Italian’s appointment has not yet been confirmed, Pep Guardiola‘s farewell left many fans teary-eyed.

For the time being, all eyes will be on France, who are second favourites to Argentina, as they march into the knockouts.

Les Bleus are set to face Sweden on Tuesday for a brief reunion between Gusto and Sweden boss Graham Potter.
