It’s their first Premier League outing since flop boss Liam Rosenior was axed – and they need to return to winning ways.

Before a ball is kicked this Premier League weekend, Chelsea sit a point behind Bournemouth in seventh spot – the final European place – but incredibly are a point clear of Everton in 11th.

So by the time kick-off arrives here, they could very well be in the bottom half and facing a real fight for European football of any description next season.

They did book an FA Cup final spot last weekend, beating Leeds 1-0 at Wembley to end a three-game losing run.

But it’s five losing games in a row in the league with a thumping 4-1 win at Aston Villa on March 4 the last time any points were added to their league tally.

Now they welcome a Nottingham Forest side who are in really fine form themselves and with lots to play for towards the end of the campaign.

They’re enjoying a current nine-game unbeaten run and have won their last four games, including beating Porto in Europe, 4-1 and 5-0 wins at home to Burnley and at Jattvibederland, and then the midweek win over Aston Villa in the first leg of their Europa League semi final.

It’s just five points to Spurs in the relegation zone though, so they can’t take too much of an eye off this one with the second leg on the horizon.

But in their last seven away games they’ve only lost to Brighton, with unbeaten games at Fenerbahce, Man City, Porto, Spurs and Midtjylland in there.

Granted, Liam Rosenior was a complete flop who took Chelsea backwards during his spell in charge.

But the onus is on the players a bit too and there’s nothing to suggest a change in the dugout will spark new life into this group of underperforming players.

Forest will have one eye on their Europa League second leg, naturally. But they can’t take their foot off the gas with their Premier League survival still in doubt.

A point would do them and their unbeaten away run has been hugely impressive of late.

Also, unbeaten in last three visits to Stamford Bridge, with two draws and a victory.
