The Congress on Friday issued a three-line whip to all its Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha MPs, directing them to remain present in Parliament from August 10 to 12 as crucial legislative business, including the proposed Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2026, is expected to come up for discussion.Sources said the party has also conveyed to all its INDIA bloc allies to ensure that their MPs remain present on the three days.The whip was issued by Congress Parliamentary Party chief whip in Lok Sabha Kodikunnil Suresh and Congress chief whip in Rajya Sabha Jairam Ramesh.They have asked all party MPs to remain present in the House from 11 am until its adjournment on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and support the party’s stand.“Very important issues will be taken up for discussion in the Lok Sabha on August 10, 11 and 12,” the whip said, directing members to treat the instruction as “most important”.The directive comes ahead of the government’s likely move to take up the FCRA Amendment Bill on August 12 amid continued disruptions in Parliament during the monsoon session.The proposed legislation has drawn objections from Christian groups and minority organisations, which have raised concerns over its provisions and sought changes. A delegation representing the groups met Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday and submitted their concerns over the proposed amendments.The Congress’ attendance directive assumes significance as the Opposition has been demanding greater scrutiny of key legislation amid the ongoing confrontation with the government in Parliament.
