Cyber fraudsters allegedly hacked the mobile number of Bhagwant Singh Dhanger, Chief Manager of the Golden Temple, and used it to send fraudulent messages seeking money from his contacts.Dhanger lodged a complaint at the Galliara police outpost in Amritsar. Speaking to reporters, he said he had received a call from an unidentified person claiming that a parcel had arrived in his name and asking him to contact another number for details. Shortly after he returned the call, his WhatsApp account was disabled.The hackers then accessed his contact list and sent messages to several acquaintances, requesting money under false pretences.Upon realising the breach, Dhanger promptly informed the police, regained control of his social media accounts and issued a public advisory urging people to ignore any suspicious messages from his number and remain cautious when responding to such requests.Vishaljit Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, said an investigation into the matter had been launched.
