MANCHESTER UNITED right backs Diogo Dalot and Noussair Mazraoui have no plans to request a move this summer.

There has been speculation from abroad that United could move for an overseas right back ahead of next season.

But sources close to both players insist that neither player is on the lookout for a transfer.

Dalot, 27, wants to stay at United as he heads into his ninth season with the club.

Mazraoui, 28, is also happy in Manchester despite a stop-start campaign in which he only made 11 starts.

The Morocco international was unavailable for eight games in December and January as Morocco reached the final of the Africa Cup of Nations.

Mazraoui has still started in Morocco’s first two games at the World Cup at left back, with Achraf Hakimi at right back.

Dalot was an unused substitute in Portugal’s opening draw with DR Congo as Joao Cancelo lined up.

United have a settled right-hand side, with Bryan Mbeumo and Amad their two specialist wingers, and intend to reinforce the left flank.

The club are open-minded as to whether to move for a left back or a left winger, having expressed interest in Crysencio Summerville at West Ham.

Newcastle left back Lewis Hall would be open to joining United as he wants to move to a Champions League club but he is under contract at St James’ Park until 2029.

Ligt up

Matthijs de Ligt’s road to recovery is running to plan, JattvibeSport understands.

The defender is currently in Ibiza, balancing rest with targeted rehabilitation following surgery on a troublesome back issue last month.

Sources indicate that his recovery is progressing smoothly, with the centre-back firmly targeting a return to action for the early stages of next season.

De Ligt started in United’s XI for 13 straight games before being ruled out from November 30 onwards.

United have dropped out of the EFL Trophy for the 2026/2027 campaign.

Sources revealed the decision stemmed from a combination of the club’s return to the UEFA Youth League—secured via the senior team’s Champions League qualification—and a tightening of their academy ranks.

The club is currently operating with a smaller-than-usual professional development phase group, which manages the core of players transitioning between the Under-18 and Under-21 sides.

Former Under-21s coach Travis Binnion, who has moved into Michael Carrick‘s senior staff, said the EFL competition provided some of the “best games”.

United failed to get out of the group stage last season. They were also eliminated from the league section of the National League Cup.

United Road

John Denver’s Country Road rang around the Seattle stadium after the United States saw off Australia last Friday.

The song has become an unofficial anthem at United, so much so that since August 2024 it has been played between the Premier League fanfare and kick-off at Old Trafford.

United captain Bruno Fernandes was the driving force behind it and Sir Alex Ferguson has been spotted singing along to it in the directors’ box.

It is not exactly You’ll Never Walk Alone and Fernandes was partly inspired by the cringing North London Forever that Arsenal introduced at the Emirates.

Some United fanatics have embraced the pre-match tradition. Staff members in the Old Trafford dugout actually started singing it before kick-off against our press team last month.

United staff were 3-0 up with 13 minutes left. They lost 4-3.

Youth files

Talks are continuing with Adam Lawrence to extend his stay as Under-21 manager.

Lawrence returned to United – after briefly leaving for Newcastle – following Binnion’s promotion to the senior ranks, which has now been cemented following Carrick’s appointment on a two-year contract.
