The Punjab State & Chandigarh (UT) Human Rights Commission has taken a suo moto notice of The Tribune report “Teen Forcibly given drugs, dies”.The Commission today passed suo motu orders based on the news item published under the caption “Teen forcibly given drugs, dies”, indicating that a 16-year-old youth died after three youths forcibly administered a drug injection to him.The Commission, comprising Chairperson Justice Sant Parkash, with members Justice Gurbir Singh and Jitender Singh Shunty (Padma Shri awardee), pursued the news and has called for report from the Senior Superintendent of Police, Fazilka, which is to be submitted a week before the next date of hearing fixed for July 9.The Tribune report said that a 16-year-old youth died after three youths forcibly administered a drug injection to him in Jhok Dipolana village. According to the family, three youths from the village allegedly took Paramjit along with them around 11.30 pm on Tuesday and forcibly administered a drug injection to him. Enraged over the incident, family members had blocked the the Fazilka-Ferozepur highway on Wednesday.Meanwhile, a case has been registered at the Fazilka Sadar Police Station on the complaint of Satnam Singh, father of deceased Paramjit Singh Bobby, under Section 103(1), 3(5) of the BNS against Palo Bai and her sons Ajay Singh, Vikram Singh Vicky and Gagandeep Singh regarding Paramjit Singh’s death under mysterious circumstances. Sub-Inspector Hardev Singh said that Palo Bai had been arrested, search for other suspects was under way.
