DJED SPENCE said Tottenham will always have a place in his heart as he sealed a £30million switch to Inter Milan.

Spence, 26, was a first-team regular at Spurs for the past two seasons and became an unlikely hero for England as they finished third at the 2026 World Cup.

But with Pedro Porro laying claim to the right-back starting berth under Roberto De Zerbi, and both Andrew Robertson and Destiny Udogie battling it out on the left, Tottenham were willing to cash on Spence this summer.

Inter announced his signing on Saturday evening, with the Italian giants forking out £25.6million up front and agreeing to a further £4.3m in add-ons.

But the grand unveiling was not published until Spence had posted an emotional farewell on social media, which included a special nod to Spurs’ 2025 Europa League final win over Manchester United.

He wrote on X: “A special chapter comes to an end. It’s been some journey, with plenty of memories, moments and experiences that I’ll carry with me for forever, especially that night in Bilbao.

“Thanks to all the staff members who’ve helped me along the way, the players who’ve become family & most importantly thank you to the fans.

“Time for a new chapter now, but Spurs will always have a place in my heart. COYS!!”

Tottenham paid £20m to sign Spence from Middlesbrough in 2022 after an impressive season on loan at Nottingham Forest.

The full-back quickly fell out of favour in North London and was shipped out on loans to Rennes, Leeds and Genoa – but his momentum continued to stall.

Spence only began to establish himself at Spurs in 2024, and he made a combined 79 appearances across the past two seasons.

Now at Inter, a couple of years on from his last spell in Italy, Spence has the chance to show Serie A how much he has improved.

He said in a video address: “Hey, Inter fans. Djed Spence here.

“I’m excited to be here. I can’t wait to see you all. Forza Inter.”
