And Donovan, who has called for Mauricio Pochettino’s side to create magic moments on home soil, left fans gobsmacked when he appeared live on air.

He went viral for sporting a patchy look when on punditry duties at Euro 2024, having unsuccessfully undergone a hair transplant.

But, when the LA Galaxy icon was back on TV screens ahead of the USA’s clash with Paraguay, Donovan had flowing locks.

World Cup fans rushed onto social media after noticing the huge difference in his look.

Donovan, who is on Fox Sports’ star-studded commentary team for the World Cup, first noticed he was balding in the early stages of his playing career.

And the former Everton man admitted he now has renewed confidence after previously worrying about his appearance.

He told The Athletic: “I got to this point where – and I don’t know, maybe it’s mid-life crisis or whatever – where psychologically it was [important].

“I thought to myself it’s just annoying to have this. Every time I saw myself in a picture: ‘I’m bald here and bald up here’.

“My confidence when I’m just walking around is skyrocketing. I didn’t realize how much I was aware of my hair, or lack of it.

“Now I walk around and think: ‘I’m kind of handsome. I’m not this ugly balding guy’.

“I feel like I’m an all right-looking guy. So for other people I think it can do a lot too.”

Donovan was spotted rocking his new wig when he was part of a live broadcast for USA’s World Cup roster reveal.
