For 12-year-olds Tanu, Taran, Kartik and Arman, along with 31 other students of Government Middle School Dadyal, Hoshiarpur, it was a day they are unlikely to ever forget.Coming from financially struggling families of labourers and factory workers, the children got a rare opportunity to witness and become part of the shooting of a Punjabi music video in their village. From cameras and makeup artists to stuntmen, retakes and rehearsals, the entire experience opened a completely new world before their eyes. The memorable moment unfolded when Punjabi singer Lakhi Ghuman arrived in the village for the filming of his upcoming song. Seeing the excitement among her students, teacher Monika decided to take them to the location, a decision that soon turned into a heartwarming experience for everyone.“The children had never seen such a world before. Yesterday, I could see a special twinkle in their eyes. For them, it was pure joy and excitement,” Monika shared. What began with hesitation soon transformed into confidence and laughter. The singer and his team warmly welcomed the students, patiently teaching them dance steps and making them feel comfortable on the set. Within minutes, the shy children were enthusiastically participating in the shoot.“The team was extremely humble. They treated the students with so much warmth. The children were even asked if they wanted makeup artists for themselves, and they burst into laughter. They genuinely felt special,” Monika added with a smile.Curious and fascinated, the students kept asking questions about how songs are filmed, why retakes happen and how much hard work goes into creating a music video. For many of them, it was their first close encounter with the entertainment world, one that left them inspired and full of stories to share with their families back home.
