The Operation Cell of Chandigarh Police arrested gangster Golu Gohana, who is known for supplying illegal arms in the region, after a brief encounter near the Sector 25 rally ground in the early hours of Wednesday morning.Acting on a tip-off, a team led by Inspector Satwinder Duhan tracked down and chased the accused before cornering him.On being surrounded, the accused allegedly opened fire at the police party. In retaliation, the police also fired, in which Gohana received a bullet injury on his right leg.He was later admitted to Government Multi-Speciality Hospital (GMSH), Sector 16, for treatment.The operation team included ASIs Keshav Dahiya, Anil Kumar, Ravinder Bura, Mandeep Kumar, Sandeep and Deepak Sindhu.This was the second such encounter involving Chandigarh Police this year. In January, two accused involved in a firing incident targeting a chemist shop owner in Sector 32 were arrested after an encounter near the Sector 39 Grain Market. Both suspects, identified as Rahul and Rocky, had sustained bullet injuries to their legs. Notably, that encounter had also taken place in the early morning hours.
