Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Monday launched a sharp attack on the BJP, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and Congress, accusing them of betraying the people of the state for political gains. He asserted that the state had decisively rejected the “politics of loot, privilege and deception” by choosing the Aam Aadmi Party in 2022.Addressing a Lok Milni programme at Badwa village in Ropar, Mann said the Opposition parties lacked any agenda for the development of Punjab and were solely focused on regaining political power to serve their vested interests.Referring to the renewed efforts of alliance between the SAD and the BJP, the CM described it as an opportunistic arrangement, aimed only at capturing power in the state. “The BJP imposed anti-farmer laws and over 700 farmers were martyred during the nationwide agitation against them. The Akalis misused religion for political interests, while the Congress failed Punjab repeatedly. Today, these parties are once again trying to mislead people for electoral gains,” Mann said. The CM maintained that the 2022 Assembly elections marked a turning point in Punjab’s political history, with voters rejecting seven former Chief Ministers and their families in favour of an “honest and transparent government”.Listing achievements, Mann said Punjab was now utilising 96% of its available canal water through an improved irrigation system.
