A clip viewed millions of times online showed the white gull strolling out of the store having grabbed the snack from a rack.
It then used its beak to open the pack and scoffed the entire bag of crisps on the pavement.
A source said: “It’s not the usual type of shoplifter.
“But the birds have got clever enough to work out where the food is.”

Another customer joked online: “That’s definitely not his first smash and grab judging by the way he’s opening the packet.”
Last year a Jattvibe probe found thieves were raiding Greggs every hour.
The chain has since redesigned some stores to place all food and drink behind the counter.
The Greggs West Croydon outlet in South London reopened in April following a “Pork Knox” refit designed to slash thefts and combat violence against staff.
Stores in Croydon and Peckham, South London; Whitechapel and Upton Park, East London; Birmingham and Wilford, Notts, are testing the same approach.
Greggs was asked to comment.
