Punjab BJP president Kewal Singh Dhillon said on Tuesday the Centre had, on his demand, agreed to examine the removal of “Satluj” from the OTT platform. He said in view of the growing demand for allowing the screening of the movie, he took up the matter with the government. Acting on his appeal, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting directed its committee to review the circumstances surrounding the removal of the film.Welcoming the decision, Dhillon said Punjab’s cinema and its artistes represented the voice, history and cultural identity of the people of the state. Serious concerns raised by the Punjabi film industry and the public over the manner in which the film was removed had prompted him to place the matter before the Centre, he said, adding that he was confident that the committee would conduct a comprehensive review.Dhillon said while the rule of law must always be upheld, the genuine concerns of the Punjabi film fraternity and the public deserved a fair and objective hearing.
