He won three Grade 2s in his pomp, including most recently at Fairyhouse in Ireland two years ago.

He ran at Cheltenham Festival too, finishing fourth in the 2019 Albert Bartlett.

A Grade 1 win always eluded him and the closest he came was when second under Richard Johnson in the Mersey Novices’ Hurdle at the 2019 Grand National Festival.

Confirming the sad news, top handler Murphy wrote on Instagram: “We are heartbroken to share the loss of our much-loved yard favourite, Brewin-upastorm.

“A true star and a huge part of the team, he gave us so many wonderful memories throughout his career.

“A 1-time winner, including three Grade 2 victories, he was not only a talented racehorse but also a total gentleman who was adored by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

“We would like to express our sincere gratitude to his owner, Barbara, to Gerard, who rode him every day, and to Harriet, who cared for him so devotedly.

“Brewin’upastorm will be sadly missed by all at the yard.

He made his debut under rules at Hereford in January 2018, winning a bumper and made rapid progress, almost claiming his Grade 1 later that season.

Brewin’upastorm’s death comes after it was confirmed Willie Mullins’ Cheltenham Festival legend Un De Sceaux had also sadly passed.
