Bilaspur wrestler Rishika has been selected for the Indian team for the U-18 World School Games to be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, this year, after winning gold in the 53-kg category at the selection trials organised by the School Games Federation of India (SGFI).The selection trials for various disciplines were held in Chhattisgarh on September 18 and 20.A total of 15 players from Himachal Pradesh participated in the trials. Rishika’s performance in the 53-kg category earned her a place in the Indian team.Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu congratulated Rishika on her achievement and said her gold medal in the 53-kg category had brought laurels to Himachal Pradesh. He said the Himachal Pradesh School Sports Association (HSSA) was working continuously to promote sporting talent among school students.HSSA president and Director of School Education Ashish Kohli termed Rishika’s selection a proud moment for the state.Association’s general secretary Santosh Chauhan said the state government was working to provide better training facilities and opportunities to young sportspersons. He said Rishika’s selection would inspire other young athletes in the state.
