The Hobbycraft 3D Pen Kit, a children’s craft toy, has been recalled as it could cause burns to children.

The Office for Product Safety and Standards said: “The product presents a risk of burns as the heating element in the pen nib may become hotter than intended during use.

“This could lead to the user receiving burns.”

The toy, sold in Hobbycraft, is a pen with a heating element allowing users to create 3D drawings from plastic pieces.

On their website, Hobbycraft issued an update that after recent testing, the pen displayed issues with overheating.

The store said: “Following recent testing, we’ve identified that the pen may become hotter than intended during use.

“While the risk is considered low, this could potentially cause a minor burn, so we’ve taken the decision to recall the product as a precaution.”

Anyone who owns the toy is advised to stop using the product immediately and return it to their nearest Hobbycraft store.
