Jalandhar MP Charanjit Singh Channi on Monday visited the Urban Estate area, where heaps of garbage were seen piled up and spilling onto the road. The MP made a verbal attack on the Punjab government over the deteriorating sanitation conditions in the city.Also read: Sanitation workers miffed over Rs. 607-cr waste management project, garbage piles up across Jalandhar cityAddressing Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann in a poetic jibe, Channi said, “Dubni bedi tere raaj di, lagni nai kinare.”Expressing concern over the condition of the area, Channi said it was becoming difficult for him to stand and breathe near the garbage dump even for a minute and questioned how local residents were living amid such conditions.He criticised the state government over what he described as a ‘failure to maintain basic civic amenities’ in Jalandhar and demanded immediate action to address the garbage problem.Congress leader Pargat Singh also reached the spot and criticised the Aam Aadmi Party government, alleging that the poor sanitation situation reflected the failure of the administration to manage the city’s basic civic services.
