I tried Charlotte Tilbury’s supercharged Magic Cream

Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream, £54

Unsure how my beloved Magic Cream could get any better, I tested the new formula for one month to see how it holds up against the OG.

Charlotte Tilbury launched Magic Cream as her first ever product in 2013, after using it on models while working as a make-up artist.

My favourite feature (and one of the many reasons for its cult status) is that it acts as the perfect primer for make-up, giving my skin a glowy finish, even when it’s dry and dehydrated.

Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream: quickfire Q&A

How much is it? Magic cream is a lot of things, but cheap sadly isn’t one of them. There’s four sizes to choose, ranging from £28 for a 15ml to £195 for an 150ml.
Who’s it best for? It’s suitable for all skin types, but it’ll be particularly loved by those with dull, dry skin – or those who want to take their make-up to the next level.
What we loved: It’s reach without feeling heavy, how beautifully it pairs with make-up, the glowy finish it gives the skin.
What we didn’t love: The premium price tag.

Before trying the new formula, I was slightly of the ‘if it’s not broke, don’t fix it’ mindset.

The moisturiser is one of my all-time favourites for using beneath make-up, so I was paying close attention to how it compares.

To non-fans, the creams new features may go unnoticed, as the changes are small but effective.

The luxurious cream looks so satisfying when it’s first opened

Firstly, the consistency feels slightly lighter than before, making it easier to glide across the skin.

It still gives the same dewy finish, but I now wear it on no-make-up days without too shiny.

The new Recoverstem Peptide formula contains a blend of over 100 peptides to target signs of ageing.

Designed to supercharge skin recovery, it focuses on improving hydration, glow, plumpness, redness, uneven texture, firmness, elasticity, fine lines and wrinkles.

The formula is rich but fast-absorbing

While I can’t say it’s improved my fine lines, my skin is always left looking glowy and plump after using.

Magic Cream doubles as a primer, absorbing fast and leaving a slightly tacky finish that acts as the perfect base.

SUPER BASE
I tried Charlotte Tilbury’s new foundation – it’s a must-try for oily skin types

Even after following up with my SPF, foundation and powder, I can still see the glow the cream gives me skin.

My ultimate duo for keeping my make-up on ALL day is pairing Magic Cream with the Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Setting Spray.

The verdict: is Charlotte Tilbury’s Magic Cream worth it?

Magic Cream is a cult favourite for a reason, and the new-and-improved formula didn’t disappoint.
The luxurious moisturiser acts as the ultimate base for make-up, enhancing the glow and keeping foundation in place all day.
The high-end feel is matched by its high-end price tag, but it really does live up to its icon status.
