For when she landed on her wrist during a dance floor debacle rather than cut her day short with a trip to A&E she numbed the pain with 20 tequila shots.
Wendy and Laurence Edgell tied the knot during an intimate ceremony in November 2025, followed by a cowboy-themed reception with 160 friends and family.
The couple, who wed after seven years together, wanted their big day to celebrate their love of country music and the US, booking a line dancing lesson for their special event.
But halfway through their party, 51-year-old Wendy was strutting her stuff when she accidentally tripped backwards onto her four-year-old granddaughter.

Desperate not to land on the little one, the mum-of-two put all her weight on her right wrist, fracturing two bones and dislocating the joint in the process.
Shocking footage shows the bride stumble backwards towards her granddaughter before crashing onto the dancefloor before concerned guests rushed towards her.
Despite immediately knowing her wrist was broken, Wendy was determined to carry on with the night and enlisted her 41-year-old ex-ambulance worker hubby to sort a make-shift sling.
The gran-of-two admits she ‘probably drank around 20 tequila shots’ to help numb the pain, before rushing to A&E where she and Laurence spent the remainder of their wedding night.
In hospital, Wendy was told she had fractured her bone in two places and would need surgery to have a metal plate fitted.
The civil servant said her fall ‘didn’t massively affect the night’ but hopes to redo her wedding night at some point in the future.
Wendy, from Ipswich, Suffolk, said: “We had someone come along to do a line dancing lesson for everybody.
“At the time I was line dancing when my four-year-old granddaughter ran across the dancefloor behind me.
“I realised it was a child behind me and was desperately trying not to land on her.
“I put all my weight onto my right wrist as I fell.
“It was immediate pain, I was trying to make sure my granddaughter was alright.
“I went into the bathroom with my daughter and it was totally the wrong shape.
“The pain was awful. I knew it was broken, I was very calm [but] was internally very upset that it had happened.
“I hadn’t drunk much, I’d probably only had four glasses of prosecco throughout the day.”
The newlyweds bravely carried on with their night before darting to hospital.
Wendy said: “There was no way I was walking out of my own wedding. He put me in a sling, I took some strong painkillers and drank a double tequila and two more shots.
“I would easily have done probably 20 tequila shots [overall], they ran out of tequila.
“I couldn’t have gotten through that pain without the alcohol, it was very much medicinal.
“I carried on dancing with a sling on, I carried on until the very end.
“We went back to the hotel, had a glass of champagne, then got into an Uber to A&E, which is where we spent the entire wedding night.
“This lovely huge bed scattered in rose petals didn’t even get slept in.”
In hospital, Wendy was told she had fractured her wrist in two places, dislocated and shattered the bone, and has since undergone surgery to have a metal plate and screws fitted.
Wendy says: “It didn’t massively affect the rest of the wedding because I just soldiered on.
“But it did affect the wedding night, which I feel bad about and I do have a fuzzy memory of the end of the night, which I didn’t want.
“I think we’ll try and do our wedding night again at some point. Part of me would love to do the whole party again.
“Everyone said it was the best wedding.”
