But France ace Adrien Rabiot slammed the playing surface after the 3-1 win over Senegal – joining Brazilian Vinicius Junior who criticised it as “dry” on Saturday.
Midfielder Rabiot, 31, said: “The pitch… I don’t even know if you can call it that.
“It felt more like an artificial surface – quite hard and quite rigid.

The MetLife is home to both the New York Jets and the New York Giants NFL teams – and even has a reputation for being ‘cursed’ due to numerous high-profile injuries.
But – as with the Club World Cup a year ago – a grass pitch was laid over the regular synthetic NFL surface in the weeks before the World Cup in a mega two-day, 27-truck overhaul project.
