The court of the Additional District and Sessions Judge has sentenced seven people, including the son of a former Ambala MLA, to undergo rigorous imprisonment for 10 years each, in an attempt-to-murder case.The court has convicted Rohit, Devender, Jitender, Anil Kumar (son of three-time former MLA and BJP leader late Master Shiv Prasad), Sukhwinder Singh, Jatin Kumar and Darpan Kumar, and imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 each on them.Convict Sukhwinder Singh will also undergo rigorous imprisonment of three years under the Arms Act.ADA Satish Kumar said that Rajesh Kumar, in his complaint to the police, said he runs a hotel on Railway Road. On December 6, 2019, about 10.30 pm, two youths on a motorcycle signalled him to stop the car. They fired at him with the intention to kill him. Rajesh was rushed to Civil Hospital, Ambala City, where he was referred to the PGI, Chandigarh. On the basis of the statement, an FIR was registered.Mahadev Maharaj Singh, counsel for the complainant, said it was established that the seven men hatched a criminal conspiracy to kill Rajesh, and the gunshot was fired by Sukhwinder. The two parties had a dispute over a few shops.Ambala District Attorney Jang Bahadur Singh said the court held the accused guilty. Of the fine amount, Rs 1 lakh will be given to Rajesh as compensation.
