Infighting has erupted in the Ropar BJP unit, with senior BJP leader and party’s state vice-president Subhash Sharma expressing reservations at the recent appointments.Sharma, who is in the US, said the appointments had been made without any consultations with him or the Ropar district incharge. “I have filed a complaint with the Punjab BJP chief as the protocols were not followed,” he said.Speaking on the allegations of Sharma, BJP Ropar district incharge Ranjit Gill said it was an internal matter of the party, and if something wrong had been done, it would be corrected.Sources said appointments to the party’s district body, especially in the Anandpur Sahib segment, had peeved Sharma, who has been active on the ground and was eyeing a ticket from here.Further, replacing the entire team of Sharma in the Ropar and Anandpur Sahib units has irked his supporters.Sharma was instrumental in securing the scheduled halt for the Amb-Delhi Vande Bharat Express at the Nangal Dam Railway Station and played a key role in the renovation of the BBMB hospital.Ropar BJP president Ajayvir Singh Lalpura said the appointments were made as per the party protocol. “Subhash Sharma is a senior leader of the party. He can call me if he has any resentment regarding any appointment,” he said.
