The Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission’s (JSSC) Combined Graduate Level (CGL) examination has come under fresh scrutiny after the CID investigation claimed that its question paper was leaked and answers were allegedly supplied to candidates before the examination.According to the disclosure made during CID interrogation by Abhay Tiwari alias Manoj Kumar Tiwari, as informed to The Tribune, 15 candidates in Bokaro were allegedly charged Rs 12 lakh each. The total amount collected from the candidates was therefore Rs1.80 crore.Tiwari, who has been arrested and sent to jail in the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) merit scam case, was working as the marketing manager of ‘M/s TSR Data Processing Private Limited (TDPL)’, an agency involved in conducting JPSC examinations. The CID has attributed the details of the alleged JSSC CGL leak to his confession during questioning.The disclosure has also raised questions about the examination success of people allegedly linked to Tiwari. He told investigators that he had himself cleared the JSSC CGL examination with rank 48. His brother Akshay Tiwari and Akshay’s wife Sushma Kumari were also selected in the same examination.Akshay Tiwari is currently posted as a JSA in the Women and Child Development Department at Dhurwa, while Sushma Kumari is posted in the Vigilance Department. Abhay Tiwari, at the time of his arrest, was working as a block supply officer in Godda.The CID account also points to the chain through which the examination works allegedly changed hands. Tiwari stated in his confession that TDPL had earlier been handling the biometric work for the JSSC CGL examination. The company refused to undertake the work because of the low rate offered. Following this, JSSC de-empanelled TDPL.The examination work was subsequently awarded to Webel. Its owner, Mithilesh Singh of Patna, and his associate Umakant Pramanik of Khunti district were linked to the examination arrangements. Webel was given responsibility not only for biometric work but also for printing the question papers.Tiwari allegedly contacted the two and obtained the question paper and answers. In Bokaro, where the candidates were allegedly made to memorise the material, Mithilesh Singh and his associate Rakesh Singh were also present, according to the disclosure attributed to Tiwari.A total of 65 questions and their answers were allegedly made available to the candidates for memorisation, the CID probe reveals, sources informed The Tribune.The alleged leak came into focus after the examination result became controversial and the matter reached court. Tiwari subsequently began appearing in other examinations as well, according to his statement recorded during the CID investigation.The disclosures put the alleged paper leak in the wider context of the examination process, linking candidates, the handling of biometric work, question paper printing and the subsequent selection of candidates.
