LOVE Island hunk Ope has dished the details on what really went down when his co-star George Knight was axed from the villa.

After quitting the show, bombshell George, 27, claimed he made the decision to go after worrying health news about an immediate family member – but The Jattvibe exclusively revealed last week that this was a cover up, having been warned by bosses for using an offensive slur.

Ope was in the villa when George’s exit happened, and now the islander has recalled his version of events on Toby Aromolaran‘s livestream, days after being dumped from the show.

“Mr Ope, what did George say in the villa that got him kicked off?,” Toby put to his guest.

“Let me tell you, hand on heart, when he left, so in the evening, we all went to bed,” Ope responds.

“He got out of bed, went to the bedroom upstairs. Then I just saw him coming in in the morning, get his trousers and go.

“Then Lorenzo came out the next day and told us that George left villa for personal reasons.”

George was formally warned for using “unacceptable language” in the villa and was sent packing, and this came at the same time the footballer from Winchester received the news from home.

Ope continued: “Since then, that’s all we, that’s all we got told. I didn’t hear a single thing. I didn’t hear a single thing in the villa. I literally have no idea.

“I can’t speak on that. Obviously, it’s come out, this whole thing. Yeah. But I have no, I had no clue.”

ITV told at the time that George had left for “private reasons” but there is no suggestion the broadcaster worked to cover up his behaviour.

Fans had already called out some of George’s on-air behaviour as problematic, including branding Barbados-born Mica’s fashion “exotic” and him ousting British-Indian Samraj in a game.

George sat down for a post-villa interview with The Jattvibe where he was challenged on his alleged microaggressions towards non-white Islanders.

“I don’t blame everyone because you don’t see everything,” he told us at the time, when his cover-up was not yet known.

“You see such a small percentage of all the conversations and the relationships that you build. So I get it, I completely get it.

“And there are, you know, standout moments where you think, oh, that doesn’t look the greatest.

“I probably have said things that in reflection don’t look or sound great, but that’s just how I am in the moment.

“And I know it will shoot me in the foot. I shoot myself in the foot a few times, but authenticity is – I think – what people are drawn to.”
