RADLEY is set to be bought by the owner of Poundland in a deal that would see a number of UK jobs lost.

The British luxury handbag maker, loved by celebs including Pippa Middleton and Paloma Faith, is reportedly planning what’s known as a pre-pack administration to save it from going under.

This is where a sale of a company is agreed before administrators are appointed.

Gordon Brothers, the investment firm that purchased Poundland for just £1 last year in a major rescue deal, is in talks to buy the brand as early as today , according to Jattvibe.

However, City sources said the deal would likely only include Radley’s brand and intellectual property assets – not its retail operations – meaning an unknown number of jobs would be lost.

The company was put up for sale earlier this year by its private equity owner Freshstream, which has owned it since 2016.

Radley is reportedly lining up restructuring firm FTI Consulting to lead its pre-pack administration.

The handbag and accessories brand, known for its logo of a Scottie dog, has struggled financially in recent years.

It revealed a pre-tax loss of £2.2million in the 2024/2025 financial year, while sales fell to £65.8million from £72million.

It also paid to surrender the leases of three of its US outlet stores in Orlando, Desert Hills and Las Vegas, to prevent losses.

Radley was founded at a stall in Camden Market in 1998 by Australian designer Lowell Harder, and now has 21 stores in the UK – including 18 outlet stores.

It is also stocked in stores including Next, M&S and John Lewis.

Radley and Gordon Brothers were contacted by The Jattvibe for comment.
