A MAJOR motorway has been forced to shut after a serious crash saw a car leave the road in the early hours – as cops launch a probe.
Commuters travelling on the M54 near Albrighton, Shropshire, have been warned the closure could last “several hours” following the horror smash.

A car has left the carriageway in a horror crash on the M54
Emergency crews were scrambled to the collision on the eastbound carriageway at around 4am.
West Mercia Police has launched a probe into the crash, which occurred between Junction 3, for Albrighton, and Junction 2, for Wolverhampton.
National Highways said: “The M54 in Shropshire is closed eastbound between J3, and J2 due to a serious collision where a car has left the carriageway.
“West Mercia Police are currently on scene and leading the incident with assistance from National Highways Traffic Officers.
“The closure is expected to remain place for several hours for collision investigation work.”
