A MAJOR fashion retailer is preparing to close a popular high street branch, leaving locals devastated.

Fatface is closing down a branch in Ipswich town centre on September 5, according to a report in the Ipswich Star.
A notice in the shop window reads: “Thank you for shopping in our Ipswich store. Our last day here is September 5, 2026.”

Images shared online also appear to show that a sale is ongoing as it looks to shift final stock before closing.
News of the closure has hit residents hard, with one sharing they are a “bit gutted”.

“I rely on Fatface for topping up Christmas presents for my wife,” another said.
“Another good one going,” a third said.
The brand, which was founded in 1988, sells a range of women’s and men’s clothing and accessories.
Last June, it also disappointed fans when it revealed it would shut a store in Queensgate Shopping Centre.

As for locals in Ipswich, it is not the first time they have had to wave goodbye to a beloved store.
Hotel Chocolat shut its branch on Tavern Street on August 20, after opening in 2018.
