MANCHESTER UNITED fans have taken to social media after a doppelganger of former player Juan Mata extended his contract at Class of 92-owned club Salford City.

While a third posted: “You cannot convince me that’s not Juan Mata.”

The post announced a new one-year deal for Turton, who joined the Ammies last summer.

The viral reaction to the post displayed the love Red Devils fans still have for their former playmaker.

After falling out of favour at Jose Mourinho‘s Chelsea, Mata made the switch to Old Trafford, he stayed in Manchester for longer than any other of his clubs, in an 8-year spell between 2014-2022.

Ironically, the double success in 2017 was under his ex-Chelsea boss, Mourinho, who saw him as surplus to requirements while at the Blues.

After leaving Old Trafford, Mata moved on to spells at Turkish giants Galatasaray and Japanese side Vissel Kobe before moving to Australia, firstly with Western Sydney Wanderers and then Melbourne Victory in 2025.

He recently became a shareholder in the Victory, as he mulls over whether to keep playing.
