Fernandes, 31, set up his team-mates 21 times in the Prem, surpassing the 20 set by both Kevin De Bruyne and Thierry Henry.
As a result, United have fired themselves back into Champions League football with a 3rd placed finish.
Old Trafford chiefs are desperate to keep hold of the club captain for the return to Europe.
Fabrizio Romano has reported that the club have started talks over a new contract.

SPEAK OF THE DEVIL
Pep used Bruno Fernandes as example of what NOT to do for Man City stars
He claims that United want to reward the former Sporting Lisbon star for his efforts this season.
This comes despite the £57million release clause in his current deal, which is alerting teams ahead of the summer transfer window.
The report states that Fernandes has interest from clubs in both Europe and the Saudi Pro League.
The secret release clause can only be triggered by clubs outside of the Prem.

Fernandes could find solace in a potential transfer as he would be away from the limelight in England.
This would include the critical gaze of former United captain Roy Keane.
The two have become embroiled in a war of words with Fernandes claiming the Irishman to be a liar.
It came after Keane had accused Fernandes of always prioritising his individual glory over the team earlier this month.
Keane appeared to respond to the current captain on Instagram as he posted to his 2.5million followers.
He shared a picture of a donkey on stage in the spotlight with two lurking lions.
It was captioned: “Too much attention makes a donkey think he’s a lion.”
Fernandes came close to being pushed out of Old Trafford last year with a switch to Al-Hilal in Saudi.
However, he snubbed the move as he still has “dreams” to achieve at the club.
Fernandes joined the club back in January 2026 from Sporting in a £47m transfer deal.
He has since gone on to score 107 goals and assist 108 more in his 327 outings.
