MICHAEL CARRICK is the short-priced favourite to be Manchester United’s manager for the first Premier League game of the 2026-27 season.

The interim boss looks poised to lead the club to Champions League football next season and is the warm favourite to oversee the big Old Trafford nights from the dugout.

Man Utd manager on opening day of 2026/27 season – talkSPORT BET

Michael Carrick – Evens
Julian Nagelsmann – 6/1
Andoni Iraola – 6/1
Gareth Southgate – 8/1
Oliver Glasner – 10/1
Luis Enrique – 16/1

With just a few games remaining of the Premier League season, United remain in third spot and looking good for a top five finish.

They were down in seventh when Carrick took over before he delivered a stellar start and they’ve built on it from there.

They’ve come off the boil slightly in recent weeks but their early momentum under the former midfielder has kept them in a strong position.

Should they pick up the couple more wins required for top-level European football, that may well be enough to see him pick up the gig.

And he’s just even money to be in charge of United for the first game of next season.

But as ever, there’s a whole host of big names waiting in the wings if not.

Andoni Iraola is 6/1 with talkSPORT BET after it was revealed he’d leave Bournemouth in the summer.

That’s the same price as Julian Nagelsmann, who will lead Germany at the World Cup.

Gareth Southgate is an 8/1 shot, ahead of Oliver Glasner at 10/1 who will leave Crystal Palace in the summer.

Luis Enrique is an outside shot at 16/1.
