The referee kept his cards to himself and Castellanos was able to play on, with the Hammers winning 2-1 thanks to Callum Wilson‘s 92nd-minute strike.
But supporters are still wincing at Pickford’s challenge, with clips of the potential leg-breaker circulating online.
And Liverpool fans – still salty from Pickford’s unpunished tackle on Virgil van Dijk which tore the Dutchman’s ACL in 2020 – joined the pile-on.
Those defending Pickford say he was only making himself big, as a keeper should do, and his landing spot was accidental.

But others point out that the England stopper seems to find himself in these sorts of situations more than most.
One angry X user wrote: “Ban incoming for Pickford? Look at that nasty lunge.”
Another replied: “How the f*** was that not a red card and a penalty? The officiating in this country is an absolute farce and a disgrace.”
A third posted: “He should be banned before he ends someone’s career.”

Dozens responding to a close-up of the challenge remembered the Van Dijk incident.
One commented: “Exactly how he did VVDs knee.”
Another chimed in with: “Serial offender, just look at the Van Dijk one.”
And a third said: “Maybe an accident, but why is it always Pickford?”
