MIKEL ARTETA has told Arsenal fans to “expect movements in the next few weeks” amid the club’s “very ambitious” transfer plans.
The Gunners are working on a sensational deal to sign Real Madrid superstar Vinicius Junior before the end of the summer, in what would be one of the biggest transfers in Premier League history.

Despite Arteta refusing to be drawn into specifics about Vinicius, the Arsenal boss hinted that fans should expect big things in the coming weeks.
Speaking after Arsenal’s 4-1 pre-season friendly win over Girona, Arteta said: “We are already active and trying to improve on and evolve the team. That is clear.

“We expect to have movements in the next few weeks. Obviously we want to get better like anyone else and you can see the transfer market, and our opponents, what we are doing.
“We won’t sit still and we are very ambitious with where we want to go.”

Pressed on when exactly Arsenal will sign Vinicius Jr, a wry smile crept across Arteta’s face before he simply answered: “Thank you.”
Vinicius will hold make-or-break talks with Madrid this week over a new deal and is keen on a move to Arsenal if he leaves the Bernabeu.
Arsenal are closely monitoring the situation and are confident they can offer him an enticing package should he not sign an extension in the Spanish capital.
The winger has just one year remaining on his current contract and his preference is understood to be remaining at Real Madrid.

However, if an agreement cannot be reached, some senior Los Blancos figures would be unwilling to let Vini Jr leave for free next summer.
Real Madrid currently take a large percentage of Vinicius’ image rights, which are a significant part of his income due to his commercial success.
Arsenal have historically been more flexible with image rights and could present the 26-year-old with more favourable terms.
The Emirates outfit are also on the brink of completing a deal to sign Newcastle captain Bruno Guimaraes in a move worth over £70m.
Arteta is keen to continue to bring the level of his Premier League-winning side up another notch.
He added: “The margins are very small, we want to get better and the level is going to increase.
“We need to increase the competition internally.
“We need to make sure we identify the things that we don’t have in the team, to have bigger margins. That’s the way we have to think.”
