Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring today demanded a clarification from the Government of India over reports of fuel rationing from different states in the country. He said people were panic-stricken as there was no clarification or assurance from the government.Reacting to reports that fuel rationing had started in various states, including Chandigarh, Warring said, “This is quite an ominous and worrying signal for the times ahead. If we cannot manage enough fuel for our daily needs, it will lead to a complete collapse of the economy.” He added that the Government of India, and the Prime Minister in particular, must take the situation seriously.“While the situation in the country is going from bad to worse, our Prime Minister is busy travelling abroad,” he remarked. The Ludhiana MP also demanded that the government convene a special session of Parliament to discuss the energy and economic crisis staring the nation in the face.Referring to the Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, who had earlier warned the government, Warring said Gandhi had consistently warned that the country’s economic condition was weakening and that the situation on the ground was not good.“Instead of dismissing concerns, the government should honestly assess the challenges and take corrective steps before the crisis deepens,” he urged. “Imposing limits on fuel or asking people to limit purchases will not solve the national crisis.”Warring suggested that the Prime Minister must directly address the issue, explain the real challenges facing the country, and present a clear roadmap to the people in Parliament. He said the Prime Minister should immediately call a special session of Parliament and take the Opposition into confidence. “In times of national concern, collective discussions and bipartisan solutions are needed, not one-sided decisions,” he remarked. The senior Congress leader noted that the people of India deserve solutions, not confusion. “The government must present a concrete action plan to protect jobs, businesses, supply chains, and the daily lives of ordinary citizens during this challenging period,” he added.
