With only a week remaining for the completion of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, Punjab has covered more than 97 per cent of its electors after accounting for both digitised and uncollectable Enumeration Forms (EFs), bringing the state close to completing one of its largest voter verification exercises. While 24 Assembly constituencies have already achieved 100 per cent coverage, another 87 have crossed the 90 per cent mark, leaving only a handful of segments to complete the exercise before the deadline.According to the latest state performance report, Punjab has 2.14 crore electors, of whom 1.91 crore EFs have been digitised, taking the digitisation rate to 89 per cent. Another 17.44 lakh electors have been categorised as uncollectable, pushing the overall coverage to 2.08 crore electors (97.13 per cent). Only 6.15 lakh electors (2.87 per cent) remain pending for digitisation.The report further shows that 15,982 polling parts (65.36 per cent) have achieved 100 per cent digitisation, while 6,901 polling parts have completed the uploading of the data.Among the districts, Ludhiana continues to face greater challenges than most despite making steady progress. The district has 26.83 lakh electors, of whom 22.03 lakh Enumeration Forms (82.11 per cent) have been digitised. Around 2.86 lakh electors (10.66 per cent) have been categorised as uncollectable, taking the district’s overall coverage to more than 92.7 per cent, while nearly 1.94 lakh forms (7.23 per cent) are yet to be digitised.A total of 11,268 forms have been submitted online by electors, 603 forms have been rolled back for corrections, while 13,528 electors have been identified with ASD discrepancies.Within Ludhiana district, Raikot has completed the exercise with 100 per cent coverage, while Payal (99.46 per cent), Khanna (99.30 per cent), Samrala (99.20 per cent), Jagraon (97.89 per cent), Dakha (96.52 per cent) and Gill (95.29 per cent) are in the final stages of completion.However, the district’s urban Assembly constituencies continue to lag behind their rural counterparts. Ludhiana North (78.24 per cent) remains the only Assembly constituency in Punjab below the 80 per cent mark, while Ludhiana South (86.63 per cent), Ludhiana West (87.04 per cent), Ludhiana Central (87.12 per cent), Ludhiana East (87.97 per cent), Atam Nagar (88.53 per cent) and Sahnewal (92.57 per cent) still have significant work to complete before the deadline.Statewide, the 24 Assembly constituencies that have completed the SIR exercise are Shutrana, Dhuri, Bhadaur, Dirba, Budhlada, Sardulgarh, Mansa, Jaitu, Kotkapura, Faridkot, Lambi, Firozpur Rural, Dharamkot, Moga, Bagha Purana, Nihal Singh Wala, Raikot, Balachaur, Nawan Shahr, Banga, Garhshankar, Sultanpur Lodhi, Patti and Tarn Taran.The report also shows that 4,250 Enumeration Forms submitted online by electors are awaiting verification, while 6,313 forms have been rolled back for corrections. Overall, 2.08 crore Enumeration Forms have been verified, representing 97.08 per cent of the state’s electors, while 81,683 cases relating to the 85-plus and ASD categories remain pending verification.
