“Raghav Chadha was a 24-hour (news) story and it has ended for us,” Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab president Aman Arora said on Wednesday while addressing the exit of seven AAP MPs from the party to join the BJP recently.Addressing media persons at the CT Group of Institutions, Jalandhar, where AAP is hosting its mega observers meet, Arora refuted rumours of other MLAs being under pressure or getting calls from other parties, saying, “I have no intimation about any such thing.”Speaking on the exit of the seven AAP MPs, Arora said, “The Raghav Chadha or other MLAs issue is over for us. That story is over. It’s only the media which is raking it up unnecessarily.”Responding to queries on the impact of MPs’ exit, Arora said, “There is nothing of this sort. It’s a matter of leaders who work from the field. Why would people go after leaders without any grassroots connect?”Saying that such leaders were also chosen by AAP, Arora said, “We chose them because they were prominent faces. They couldn’t hold their ground, what can we do?”Further responding to queries on the alleged pressure on other MLAs and whether the MPs’ exit had put a dent in AAP, Arora said, “No one has said any such thing to me. That they are in contact or under pressure from other parties. Pressure is a matter of feeling. Those who don’t feel pressure, don’t get affected. There is no dent on the AAP.”He added, “The AAP’s task is to reach out to people. We’re not into arm twisting tactics like the BJP using ED and other agencies. When there is no ground response then they (BJP) indulge in such actions.”On whether AAP was on the lookout for MLAs close to Chadha or Pathak, Arora said, “They joined the AAP for Arvind Kejriwal’s ideology, they didn’t join Chadha or Pathak individually. Their connection to the party is natural.”Speaking about the purpose of today’s meeting, Arora reiterated, “It is a regular, routine meeting of our 1,000 observers who were sent to understand the people and to get feedback on the ground issues which they had been tasked to monitor for past few months.”Responding to queries on the opposition’s jibe regarding the impending exit of the Aroras from the party, he said, “For the last five years, every six months they said Aman Arora will go. I’m standing here, while others kept going. Sanjeev Arora has also made his position clear.”
