In an important message to the younger generation, days after student protests at Jantar Mantar rocked the government, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said a short-cut approach to life and situations could prove counterproductive.“Reels ka zamaana hai… influencers aapko kaheen kaa kaheen le jaatey hain.. aapne dekha hoga railway stations par likha rehta hai un logo n me liye joh jaldi mein bridge se nahi patri se jaatey hain… Short cut will cut you short,” PM Modi said while releasing the autobiography of former President Ram Nath Kovind here on Wednesday.The Prime Minister said the goal of Viksit Bharat will be achieved with the labour of youth who are not overwhelmed by hardship but those who rise against all odds. The Prime Minister listed the struggles of Kovind to make his point, as he said the former President is a shining example of how to vanquish odds with resilience and grit and not let life and its challenges get the better of you. Kovind, who lost his mother very young, was brought up by his father.“Kovind ji considers his father his hero by rising to occupy the highest office in the country,” said PM. Modi also gave a lesson in humility to all as he cited Kovind’s example to say, “When I would call on Kovind ji at Rashtrapati Bhavan, he would always walk me to my car, breaking protocols. I used to tell him not to do this, but he never lost sight of his humility,” said PM, adding that the higher one rises in life, the more humble one should become.The PM released ‘Triumph of the Indian Republic: My Life, My Struggles’, the autobiography of Ram Nath Kovind, saying it detailed the former President’s inspiring life and efforts to serve society.The Prime Minister added that Mahatma Gandhi, Baba Saheb Ambedkar, Jyotiba Phule, Savitribai Phule… so many such great luminaries had dreamed of rebuilding India where even the poorest of the poor, the most deprived of the deprived, could get the opportunity to reach the pinnacle. “Personalities like Kovind ji did not just transform their own lives through their labour and ability… they also played a role in realising that centuries-old dream, that vision,” the Prime Minister said.
