A RUNWAY has closed at London Heathrow due to a grass fire as flights are hit by delays.
Departures are reportedly suspended as photos taken from a passenger terminal appear to show smoke billowing into the sky.

Flights have reportedly been suspended
Heathrow Runways posted to X that a “grass area fire” had temporarily closed one of the travel hub’s runways.
Travellers have been warned of long delays with the airport set to operate on single runways for the foreseeable future, Aviation News UK reports.

They said in a statement: “Due to a grass fire at London Heathrow runway 27L has been temporarily closed.
“High delays are now expected and a flow rate has been introduced.
