AAP Punjab Affairs in-charge Manish Sisodia on Wednesday said AAP MLAs are in touch with the public and not influenced by individual MPs or leaders from other parties. He also called BJP a “party of traitors” and said people should not listen to it.Sisodia made the remarks while speaking to the media during AAP’s mega “Block Observers Meet” held at CT Group of Institutions in Jalandhar. A marathon meeting of AAP observers and MLAs was held on Wednesday, involving tasks, games, and sessions on structural strengthening of the party. His comments came days after seven AAP Rajya Sabha MPs joined BJP. The AAP meeting was preceded by days of party leaders protesting outside the homes and offices of MPs who recently joined BJP, writing ‘traitors’ on their walls.Responding to queries on whether AAP MLAs were in touch with other parties, Sisodia said, “Our MLAs are in touch with everyone, but they are primarily in touch with the public — the people who elected them. They have worked hard for the public for four years and will continue to work for another year.”When asked whether leaders close to outgoing MPs like Raghav Chadha or Sandeep Pathak could be influenced to leave, Sisodia said, “An AAP worker is highly motivated, but not by a single MP or MLA. He is motivated by whether the government is working and by the government’s work in health, employment, power, and for farmers. Under CM Mann, AAP has done work in a few years that other governments could not do in 75 years.”On BJP claims that AAP leaders were in touch with Chadha and Pathak, Sisodia said, “BJP is a degenerate party that lies. Do not listen to them. It is a party full of traitors. They only know how to break the country and parties, and misuse ED. Have they opened schools and hospitals? They have only done what they know.”Sharing the agenda of Wednesday’s meeting, Sisodia said, “AAP has appointed observers for every 15 villages or wards. Their job is to meet residents regularly, understand their issues, and bring them to the government. The observer is the bridge between grassroots workers and the party. In a meeting four months ago, tasks were given to these observers. I am happy our observers have held one-on-one meetings with 2.5 lakh volunteers. Today we devised their further action plan. Under the vision of Arvind Kejriwal and Bhagwant Mann, the work of party workers is paying off and growing in every village. This grassroots commitment of AAP was reiterated in today’s meeting.”
